Our Mission
My Power Foundation is an independent, non-denominational, and non-religiously affiliated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the vision to bring together people who want to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate in a direct and meaningful way. The Foundation focuses on specific philanthropic projects that allow donors to experience a strong sense of connection and ownership over the results of their generosity. Our goal is to create opportunities for individuals to contribute in ways that foster a personal bond with the people and communities they support—regardless of background, belief, or affiliation.
Our History
My Power Foundation was founded in February 2010 by Patricia Szriftgiser to be a vehicle for ordinary people to give to families in despair in new and creative ways. Our initial project was “Families Adopting Families”, a holiday program where we identify underprivileged or struggling families and partner them with donors to provide deserving families with the items they need.
In the aftermath of the January 2010 Haiti Earthquake My Power Foundation together with Samaritan Air delivered food and supplied to Jacmel Village, a community outside Port of Prince, that was unable to receive deliveries from the main airport.
